FLOR DE CAFÉ
Taste: Mocha, Toffee, Cashew Streusel
Origin: Guatemala
Region: Chanjón
Process: Washed
Variety: Caturra, Bourbon, Catuai, Typica
Flor de Cafe gets its name from the Coffee Flower Development Association (Asociación de Desarrollo Flor del Café), a collective of indigenous farmers from the Huehuetenango region. This is a community lot consisting of contributions from five smallholder producers. As a result, we see a blend of four different varietals: Caturra, Bourbon, Catuai, and Typica.
This coffee is a staple in our line up, and we are excited to once again have Flor de Cafe in the roastery. Part of our enthusiasm for this community lot comes from its multi-purpose applications.
Flor makes for an exceptional espresso roast. At this profile, its sugary tones can truly shine, leading to sweet syrupy shots. Those interested in the espresso profile should try our flagship “Top Hat”.
Those who enjoy lighter profiles can find something to love here too, with tempting flavors of cashew streusel, asian pear, and chewy toffee. Try this origin as an aeropress to lean into its richness, or brew as a chemex to delve into its nuanced textural acidity.
Always freshly roasted coffee in Bend, Oregon.
